[ SOME ANSWERS | QUESTIONNAIRE ]

Andreas Müller [ WEBSITE ]

1. How would you describe your work in connection with typography and multimedia?
My work isn't focused on dynamic typography, it just happens to be one of the many things that I love exploring.

2. In dynTypo I'm collecting examples of artists, studios/projects where dynamic typography is used in cooperation with design and multimedia arts. Examples: John Maeda, Peter Cho, Andreas Müller, Yugo Nakamura, Jason Lewis, Letterror, etc. Is anyone else dealing with these issues that are important/influential for you? If so, why do you think they are important for your work?
My strongest memory of dynamic typography was seeing a video of a piece made by Peter Cho in the late 90's.

3. Did you study dynamic typography at school?
Nopes

4. How do you see yourself as a designer or a multimedia artist?
A programmer I would say I certainl spend the bulk of m time looking at some sort of text editor with anything I create, you could say it's my Photoshop.

5. Can you identify some restrictions/limitations in the software you are using? If so, please specify?
I doubt computers will ever be fast enough to do what our minds can think of, but at the moment my biggest limitation is my own skill. Until I can get the sort of results that current games get out of the machine I use there is definately still potential in there that I stil don't have the skill to access.

6. How do you see the use of self-made programs for dynamic typography? And what do you think of using it for both 'personal research' and commissioned projects?
I would love to do more commissioned dynamic typography projects. As always the range of expression of a personal project and a commercial project are very different

7. How do you think dynamic typography can improve our daily basis life? In other words, what do you think about the usage of dynamic typography?
Well, design can improve our daily life, and typography, dynamic or otherwise is part of that.

8. How do you see the future of dynamic typography evolution?
Well, I can't wait to see what people come up with, tools are getting easier to use and hopefully this will lead to stronger self expression on the computer platform.

Thank you!
