University of Cordoba

Founded in 1972, the Spanish University of Cordoba (UCO) has three campuses: the Rabanales campus, the Health Sciences campus and the Legal & Social Sciences Campus. The university is well-regarded for its Agriculture & Forestry teaching, which is ranked as the joint fourth-best in Spain, in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017. The Food and Agriculture, Science and Technology area has been further consolidated with the Agrifood Campus of International Excellence (ceiA3), and the creation of the Rabanales 21 Science and Technology Park, or The Maimonides Institute for Biomedical Research of Cordoba (IMIBIC).

Agricultural University of Athens

The Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) is the largest Greek University exclusively dedicated to research and educational activities covering all aspects of agriculture and food sciences. AUA has an excellent research infrastructure, employing more than 500 people on a tenured position. The Faculty of Food Science, Biotechnology and Development has a staff of 68 professors and more than 150 administrative & research personnel. It is the leading Greek academic body in teaching and research activities in the field of food science and technology, including agriculture and food production, plant and animal science, genetics, microbiology, cell culture, enzyme technology and diagnostic technologies.

Ibn Zohr University

Ibn Zohr University (UIZ) is a Moroccan Higher Education Public Institution which was created in 1989. UIZ is unique in its region; a major player and a driving force for revenue and research development in the south of the country. Its primary purpose is to foster and strengthen research as a means of creating and renewing knowledge, which aims to promote the emergence of intellectual, moral and cultural capacities. UIZ university provides: Initial training and continuing education; Scientific and technological research, contribution to the overall development of the country and international cooperation.

Instituto Politécnico de Bragança

The Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB) is a Portuguese Higher Education Public Institution with a defined mission in creating, transmitting and diffusing technical, scientific and professional knowledge through the articulation of study, applied research and experimental development. In 35 years, IPB has prepared more than twenty thousand graduates, establishing itself as a paramount agent to the regional and national development, and the decentralisation and democratisation of the access to higher education.

University of Bologna

University of Bologna (UNIBO) with 33 Departments, 11 Schools and around 85000 students covers all academic disciplines. It is strongly committed to research and innovation and it is one of the most active Italian universities in European and international R&I projects, with more than 400 EU funded projects (FP7&H2020). In Horizon 2020, UNIBO is so far involved in 162 funded projects (39 as coordinator) with more than 57ML. In the framework of the Societal Challenge II - BioEconomy and related - initiatives, UNIBO is coordinating 4 projects (OLEUM, PROVIDE, TROPICSAFE, CIRCLES) and committed as a partner in 32 bioeconomy projects (of which 4 under BBI JTI) with a total EU contribution of over 10 M euro.

University of Manouba

The University of Manouba (UMA) is a public Higher Education establishment, founded in 2000, and reunites 14 institutes and faculties in one large campus. In 2016, UMA recorded 17779 students, 1608 professors/lecturers and 825 administrative staff. The Higher Institute of Biotechnology of Sidi Thabet (ISBST) is one of UMA’s establishments with 66 teaching staff and 54 technical staff. ISBST offers third-level academic education and scientific research in Biotechnology applied to the para-pharmaceutical/pharmaceutical industry, safety and quality control of food, experimental and analytical biology, animal, plants and microbial system biology, and molecular biology and health.
