Ibn Zohr University

Ibn Zohr University (UIZ) is a Moroccan Higher Education Public Institution which was created in 1989. UIZ is unique in its region; a major player and a driving force for revenue and research development in the south of the country. Its primary purpose is to foster and strengthen research as a means of creating and renewing knowledge, which aims to promote the emergence of intellectual, moral and cultural capacities. UIZ university provides: Initial training and continuing education; Scientific and technological research, contribution to the overall development of the country and international cooperation. The research team Bioprocess and Environment (BPE) is a sub-unit of the Laboratory of Engineer Science and Energy Management (LASIME) which is a national-funded research laboratory based in the High Institute of Technology-Agadir (Ecole Supérieure de Technologie d’Agadir). The objectives of BPE-LASIME laboratory include the valorisation of agro-resources and local food products based on investigation of their chemical and microbiological quality as well as enhancement of their safety and shelf-life using biopreservation approaches. Thus, the mission of BPE-LASIME perfectly matches the objectives of the ArtiSaneFood project.
